We were delighted to welcome members of the City of Bath Petanque Club to Marlay Boules Club on Friday May 8th for an invitational game.

We originally made contact with members of Bath two years ago in Santa Susanna, Spain, where contact details were exchanged, and tentative arrangements were made for mutual visits.

A most enjoyable day was had by all. Eats and refreshments were organised by Eamon Carey, Marie Loughnane and Evelyn Daly, and they were thoroughly enjoyed and much appreciated by all, following the first set of games.

At the end of the competition, the best overall team and the best teams from both clubs received prizes.

We wish to say a huge “thank you” to Ray O’Connor, our resident trophy maker, for his skilful production of the trophies that were presented to the winning teams.

We are already looking forward to a visit to Bath in the near future for a game of Boules in that historic city.
